Rhinoplasty/nose aesthetics surgery is a special surgery and long-term results determine the real success. You will know what I mean if you look at older photos of your relatives who have been previously operated.
The appearance of the nose can be quite misleading in the photos taken during early periods when swelling is still prominent. The swelling is almost always asymmetrical and may suggest the presence of problems that are not actually there or prevent existing problems to show up.
The reason we take photographs of your nose at regular intervals in the post-operative follow-up period is to be able to recognize these changes. I find it appropriate to take the first photo just after the first or second week when the bandages are removed. Subsequent photos can be taken at 3rd or 6th month, 1st year and 5th year depending on the rate of change.
Nasal congestion, mild bleeding and presence of thin threads on the entrance of the nasal canal are common, generally unimportant problems that may occur in the early recovery period. Depending on the methods used to scale down the intranasal flesh, crusts and related congestion problems may occur as well. Ocean water solutions and moisturizing intranasal drops I recommend after the surgery will help soften and remove the crusts. Still, we may have to clean the scabs and the recovering tissue during the follow-up visits.
You have to be willing to accept rhinoplasty/nose aesthetics surgery as a continuous process that involves the follow-up visits as well as the operation itself. I have tried to mention the difficulties we may encounter during this process and the solutions to the potential problems in my informative articles as clearly as possible. At this point regardless of the stage they are in, be it the stage when considering rhinoplasty, decided on the surgery and waiting for the operation day or already underwent operation and is in the follow-up period, the most important task for the patients is to follow the directions of the surgeon and not to panic. If you undergo the surgery with a fragile psychology or with expectations of absolute perfection, the process will be difficult for you, even if you are happy with the end result. Keep in mind; we perform these surgeries to be happy ?
